Winter Wedding in Montana – Alison & Scott 1.16.16

Roy and I had the opportunity to head back to our old stomping grounds for a beautiful winter wedding in Montana last month.  The town of Whitefish is nothing short of a dream in the winter. I always describe it as the town that lives inside of a snow globe.  It’s so quaint, cute and always has a thick blanket of snow.

We met Alison and Scott out in Seattle last summer for their engagement session. Click here to check that out!  It was exciting to photograph them in a snowy mountain environment after we had captured them on the hot city streets of Seattle!  They were married at the Grouse Mountain Lodge surrounded by family and close friends who traveled from all over.  Alison, with the help of Courtney from 114-West, had every single little detail planned out which allowed the day to take its course so smoothly!  Alison and Scott decided to do a first look prior to walking down the aisle which allowed us to get in lots of portraits before the sun went down (at like 4:45pm in the winter!).  Doing a first look also allowed us the time to drive over to the picturesque Whitefish Lake. Alison looked so graceful as she approached her groom standing on the “beach.” :)

Thanks Alison, Scott, their bridal party & family for braving the snowy conditions in order to capture all the beauty that NW Montana offers in the winter!

Top Montana Wedding Photographers 2015 Year in Review

We are just about to ring in 2016 (wiggity whaaaaat?!), so let’s take a look back at a handful of our 2015 weddings.  Without a doubt, our hearts are full to the very brim (maybe even spilling over a little bit) with all the memories we have with couples and families who welcomed us so warmly on wedding days.  All the people we get to meet and stories we get to share is why we love what we do.  We consider it a great honor and cherish our memories with you all!

It’s been one year since we’ve settled in Bozeman, Montana and we are confident saying that we are here to stay- and geez, that feels good!  Although we are grateful for living in 5 places in 6 years (yikes!) and for all of our memories in those cities, it feels pretty awesome to call this place home.  As Montana wedding photographers, we ended up in several Montana towns- Bigfork, Billings, Whitefish, Livingston, and Big Sky, amongst others. Good thing we live in such a beautiful state!  It’s not too bad to zig-zag across it during wedding season. :)

We have a great lineup of weddings in 2016 already!  We do still have a few dates available, so be sure to get in contact with us if you are getting married in 2016 and want us to be your Montana wedding photographers! Enjoy this look back at some of our top wedding picks and we will see you in the new year.

Bigfork Montana Wedding Photographers – Jack & Erin 9.5.15

This wedding is one of the most memorable weddings we have ever photographed!  Why was it so memorable, you ask?  It’s a combination of two reasons. Reason #1-  It poured rain the ENTIRE day.  It felt like we traded the beautiful fall Montana weather for a coastal tropical storm. Reason #2- I didn’t hear the bride say a peep about the weather.  She didn’t complain once and had the most graceful and thankful attitude.  As far as photos go, sometimes rain can be a huge obstacle.  It was; however, Jack and Erin’s positive, up-for-anything attitude was super helpful for us to create beautiful imagery despite the weather! They were just happy to be in each other’s arms, giving God the glory all the way through.

The ceremony and reception were inside at the gorgeous Kootenai Lodge on the north end of Swan Lake in Bigfork, Montana.  It was a perfect venue for a rainy wedding day- a cozy Montana lodge.  You can bet the fire was ablaze all day long!  It was a black tie affair and Erin & Jack’s wedding guests were definitely dressed to the nines.  It’s not often that us Montanan’s get so dressed up, but Erin & Jack’s guests proved that we know how to. :)

Thank you to Courtney of 114-West who was tremendous in helping us and everyone the entire day.  Our hearts will be forever thankful to Erin and Jack’s family and friends who gave us such a warm welcome from the moment we arrived.  Congratulations you two- enjoy your wedding photos!

Montana Destination Wedding Photographer in Whitefish, MT

We photographed this wedding last month in Whitefish, Montana and it was absolutely beautiful!  It was one of those weddings where anyone involved is thinking to themselves, “Is this even real?!”  That is because the wedding ceremony took place on a frozen lake!  The couple is from the San Francisco area, but they have a deep passion for the Montana winters and snowboarding. The groom (Alex) had visited Whitefish a few times prior and knew that he wanted to get married there someday.  He didn’t have to convince his bride, she was on board right away!  They were married on Whitefish Lake with Whitefish Mountain Resort as the backdrop.  They lived up the winter theme to the max!  The guests were greeted with blankets and warm cocktails as they arrived to the ceremony location.  It was the perfect afternoon, a balmy 35 degrees.  I don’t think the bride could have asked for more.

When Jaime and Alex contacted me, told me more about their wedding day, and asked me to be their Montana destination wedding photographer, I was especially excited!  Winter weddings are always up there among my favorites.  Come on Montana brides, get married in the winter time!  Maybe this wedding will help convince you. ;)

A special thanks to Tanya from Tanya Gersh Events and to Kim and Rae from Twig & Gather.  It was an honor to photograph your creations and work alongside top tier professionals like you.

Montana Wedding Photographers – Styled Shoot Part 2

Don’t these photos just make you want to go find a little cozy cabin like this one and live in it forever?!  If it wouldn’t have been so cold outside, I think we definitely would have hung out on the front porch of this cabin all evening long at least!

This set of images is part two of the styled shoot we did in Whitefish, Montana. You can see part one here. The gown in these photos is from the designer Claire La Faye and I think it was strikingly beautiful in this rustic winter setting!  The details of the dress blew me away. And what about that antler headpiece with the matching boutonniere?!  It was so much fun to have creative and unique pieces to work with.  Mum’s Flowers is just so so good!

I am so thankful for this wonderful team of vendors we got to work with!
